Welcome to Rescue Uncle. This Privacy Policy is published by Rescue Uncle Solutions Private Limited ("we," "us," "our," or the "Company"). We operate the Rescue Uncle mobile application (the "App") and the website https://rescueuncle.in (the "Website"), collectively referred to as the "Platform."

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Platform. By accessing or using our Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use our Platform.

We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. This Privacy Policy complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and other applicable Indian laws.


2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use the Rescue Uncle App, you may provide us with the following information:

  • Account Information: Mobile phone number (with country code), full name, email address, and gender, which you provide during registration and profile setup.
  • Address Information: Full address, locality, state, pincode, country, and contact name, which you provide when adding service addresses.
  • Device Information: Device name, device description, device category, brand, purchase date, warranty status, and IMEI or serial number for devices you register for repair or service.
  • Photos and Documents (Optional): Purchase invoices, extended warranty documents, insurance policy documents, and customer drop-off photos that you choose to capture with your camera or attach from your photo library or file storage. These uploads are voluntary and used only for device registration, warranty verification, insurance records, and service documentation.
  • Service Request Information: Service descriptions, preferred pickup dates, service type, alternate mobile numbers, and payment preferences when you raise a service request.
  • Payment Information: Payment mode preference (online or cash). When you choose online payment, payment processing is handled by Razorpay, a third-party payment gateway. We receive transaction identifiers (payment ID, order ID, and signature) for verification purposes. We do not store your credit/debit card numbers, bank account details, or UPI IDs on our servers.
  • Support Information: Ticket type, subject, and description when you submit support requests.
  • Coupon and Care+ Information: subscribed Care+ plans when you subscribe to Care+ plans.
  • Notification Preferences: If you choose to enable push notifications, you grant permission for the App to send service and marketing notifications.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use our App, we may automatically collect:

  • Technical Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, device type, operating system version, app version, and network state information.
  • Error and Performance Data: Crash reports, error logs, device and operating system context, app version, and performance metrics collected through Sentry (our error monitoring service) to improve app stability. We have configured Sentry with personally identifiable information (PII) collection disabled to minimize data exposure.
  • Usage Data: Timestamps of requests and interactions with our servers, generated as part of standard server operations.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be transparent about data we do not collect:

  • We do not collect your GPS location or precise geolocation data. Address information you provide is entered manually by you and is not derived from device location services.
  • We do not access your contacts, call logs, or SMS messages.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers or run targeted advertising.
  • We do not record your screen, keystrokes, or browsing activity outside of our App.

Camera and photo library access is used only when you actively choose to capture or attach documents within the App. We do not scan or access your media in the background.


3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Account Management: To create and manage your account, verify your identity via OTP, and maintain your profile.
  • Service Delivery: To process your service requests, assign technicians, track repair progress, and deliver your repaired devices.
  • Address Verification: To check whether our services are available in your pincode area.
  • Document Processing: To store and review invoices, warranty documents, insurance documents, and service photos you upload for device registration and service fulfillment.
  • Payment Processing: To facilitate payment transactions through our payment gateway partner (Razorpay) and to maintain transaction records.
  • Communication: To send you service updates, OTP verifications, push notifications (when enabled), and respond to your support requests.
  • Customer Support: To manage and resolve your support tickets.
  • App Improvement: To identify and fix bugs, improve app performance, and enhance user experience using crash reports and error data.
  • Promotional Offers: To validate and apply coupon codes and Care+ benefits to your service orders.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our Platform:

4.2 Service Technicians

When you raise a service request, relevant information such as your address, device details, and service description may be shared with assigned service technicians to fulfill your repair order.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government regulation, or if we believe such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of Rescue Uncle Solutions Private Limited.
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Platform.
  • Protect the personal safety of users of the Platform or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Storage

  • Server-Side: Your account data, service records, device information, uploaded documents, and transaction history are stored on our secure servers hosted in India.
  • On-Device: Authentication tokens are stored securely using your device's secure storage mechanisms (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). A cached push notification token, onboarding preferences, and temporary session data may be stored in local storage on your device.

5.2 Security Measures

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS for all communications between the App and our servers.
  • Secure token-based authentication with automatic token refresh mechanisms.
  • Secure storage of credentials on your device using platform-native secure storage.
  • Access controls and authorization checks on all API endpoints.
  • Regular security assessments and updates.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.


6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Specifically:

  • Account Data: Retained as long as you maintain an active account. You may request deletion by contacting us.
  • Service Records and Uploaded Documents: Retained for a minimum period as required for warranty, legal, and accounting purposes.
  • Transaction Data: Retained as per applicable financial and tax regulations in India.
  • Support Tickets: Retained for a reasonable period to ensure service quality and for reference in case of disputes.
  • Push Notification Tokens: Retained while notifications are enabled and your account is active; removed when you log out or disable notifications.

Upon account deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.


7. Your Rights

As a user, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: You can view your profile information, addresses, devices, and service history directly within the App.
  • Correction: You can update your profile information (name, email, gender) through the App's profile editing feature.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing support@rescueuncle.in with the subject "Account Deletion Request – Rescue Uncle" (this option is also available from the App's More section), or by contacting us using the details in Section 14 below.
  • Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to data processing at any time by discontinuing use of the App, disabling push notifications in your device settings, and requesting account deletion. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
  • Grievance Redressal: If you have concerns about how your data is handled, you may contact our Grievance Officer (details below).

8. Third-Party Links and Services

Our App may contain links to third-party websites or services, including but not limited to:

  • WhatsApp: For customer support communication. Any information you share via WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy and is initiated by you.
  • External Blogs: Articles and content opened via your device's web browser.
  • Razorpay: For payment processing.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.


9. Children's Privacy

Our Platform is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 18, please contact us immediately.


10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

11. Permissions Used by the App

The Rescue Uncle App requests the following device permissions:

Network State To detect network availability and provide appropriate offline/online experience.
Vibration To provide haptic feedback for notifications and user interactions.
Camera To capture invoices and warranty documents when you choose to take a photo within the App (optional).
Photos / Media Library To attach existing invoices, warranty documents, and insurance documents from your device (optional).
Notifications To send service status and order updates when you enable push notifications (optional, user-controlled).

We request only the permissions necessary to deliver our services. Optional permissions are requested at the time you use the related feature.


12. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Rescue Uncle App does not use cookies. For the web version of our Platform, standard web technologies such as local storage may be used to maintain your session. No tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies are employed.


13. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under or in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
